By REBECCA BUNCH Regular readers of The Chowan Herald are, no doubt, familiar with the "One on One” column, written by D.G. Martin, which appears each week on page 4-A of this newspaper. This week, Martin's col umn deals sensitively with a subject which has been much in the news locally in recent weeks -- that of teenagers who drink and drive. His comments offer con structive suggestions to par ents of teenagers about how they can work with their chil dren to avoid needless loss of life. Martin also hopes that his column will serve as a reminder to all - not just teens - who drink and drive. D.G. Martin is a Charlotte attorney who writes "One on One" in his spare time. One of his law partners is Norfleet Pruden, who has relatives living in Chowan County. He has developed a keen interest in our community as a result of many conversa tions with Pruden, and hopes to visit in the future. Martin said that he in tended this column not as a rebuke to those who have been involved in past accidents, but as a plea to all motorists not to drink and drive. » Rocky Hock Ruritans Win Awards The Rocky Hock Ruritan Club walked away with five of seven awards and its presi dent was singled out for an individual honor at the Albemarle District Ruritan Convention in Elizabeth City ^ on November 21. * The district consists of 24 clubs.
